In October, 1997, Dan M. Kimberly formed Export Insurance Services-Midwest ("EIS-Midwest") headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, in conjunction with EIS, in order to provide risk mitigation products to exporters and financial institutions engaged in financing international trade in the Midwest U.S. At the same time as exporters are reluctant to expose their balance sheets to political and commercial risks, banks face internal controls and external regulatory restrictions which limit their ability to extend cross-border loans. The credit insurance and forfaiting markets have expanded significantly in their risk absorption capacities to accommodate this demand.

Prior to founding EIS-Midwest, from 1991 - 1997, Kimberly was Vice President, Structured Trade Finance Group, Westdeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale, Germany's third largest bank. He was located in its Chicago office and responsible for marketing and executing highly structured trade finance facilities to targeted clients in the Midwest U.S.

From 1979 - 1991, he was Vice President in the Trade Finance Division of the First National Bank of Chicago (later First Chicago/NBD and now BancOne). His primary responsibilities included marketing a broad range of trade finance products to multinational and middle market companies located throughout the Midwest.

From 1973 - 1979 he established Foreign Credit Insurance Association's Southeast Regional Office in Atlanta, Georgia, subsequently relocated to Miami, Florida. FCIA was until 1992 the Management Company for the Export Import Bank of the U.S. After establishing the Atlanta Regional Office of the FCIA/Eximbank. he served as Senior Credit Underwriter and Manager of FCIA/Eximbank's Midwest Regional Office in Chicago.

Kimberly is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin (Madison) and the Thunderbird School of International Studies in Phoenix, Arizona.
